Assignment Title: Case Study I: Diverticular Disease and Colostomy
What I learned: Through this assignment I learned how to use the Nutrition Care Process to meet the needs of a patient. I assessed his anthropometric data and medical history in order to select an appropriate nutrition diagnosis and recommend an intervention.
Reflection: This assignment helped me to better understand the complex process of combining several factors to provide an educated nutritional diagnosis and intervention. In doing this assignment, I began to see how the accumulation of knowledge from my nutrition education comes together to provide appropriate care for a patient.
Relevance: The skills developed in Medical Nutrition Therapy apply to any career in the Nutrition and Food Science field. The ability to research, interpret and apply information to a situation is just as valuable to restaurant manager as it is to a clinical dietitian.
